Oreo Truffle Snowballs & Snowmen Recipe (2024)

Let me introduce you to Oreo Truffle Snowballs. I’m a huge fan of a delicious Oreo Truffle (aka Balls from Heaven!). They have been my #1 go-to dessert for the past few holiday seasons. This year I wanted to start the season with something different.

As I was trying to think of kid-friendly holiday snack ideas, I figured why not mix up one of my favorites? Kids like Oreos. Kids like snowballs. Why not combine the two and create Oreo Truffle Snowballs? And that’s what I did and you’ll thank me for it.

Not only are they delicious but they are so fun and festive that they will be the hit of any holiday party. Plus, if you saw the super popular Peanut Butter Graham Cracker Balls, you’d know that people like balls. 🙂

Ingredients:

1 package regular size Oreo cookies, crushed

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 package white chocolate chips

White sugar crystals/sprinkles and/or coconut

Preparation:

1. Crush the Oreos with a food processor. You can do it by hand but it is so much easier with a food processor.

2. Mix Oreos crumbs and cream cheese together with a blender.

3. Roll into walnut size balls and place them on a wax paper covered plate or pan.

4. Freeze for at least an hour.

5. Melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave or in a double boiler.

6. Stick a toothpick in an Oreo ball and dip it in the melted chocolate.

7. Let the chocolate drip off the Oreo ball and then sprinkle with white crystal sugar sprinkles over a plate. (You want to do it over a plate to catch the extra sprinkles and re-use them!)

8. Place sprinkled Oreo ball on wax paper and gently remove the toothpick. Cover the toothpick hole by smearing the chocolate lightly with the toothpick.

9. Another option would be to sprinkle coconut onto the freshly dipped Oreo ball. Instead of sprinkles, immediately set the dipped ball onto wax paper and sprinkle with coconut. You will need to lightly press the coconut into the chocolate to get it to stick. To give your guests (or kids!) a variety, I suggest doing some with sprinkles and some with coconut.

10. Chill or freeze until chocolate is set.

**If you are feeling creative and/or serving them to kids, you can put three balls on a cake pop stick (the coconut ones look cuter!), add 2 eyes and three buttons with black gel frosting and wrap a Twizzler rope around the next like a scarf, and you have yourself an Oreo Truffle Snowman! Cutest. Thing. Ever.

FAQs

Can you crush Oreos in a blender? ›

Since many recipes call for crushed Oreos, you'll need to learn how to easily crush them without making a big mess. You can use your blender or food processor to make Oreo crumbs. Or place the cookies in a plastic bag and hit them with a rolling pin until they're crushed.

Can I use a blender instead of a food processor for Oreo balls? ›

Just like when making an Oreo cookie crust, a food processor or blender grinds the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs. If you don't have one, you can place the Oreos in a plastic zipped-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin. The whole cookie, cream filling and all. Combine the crumbs with softened cream cheese.

Can I use a blender to crush biscuits? ›

Use a food processor: Place the biscuits/cookies in a food processor and pulse until they are broken into small pieces. Use a blender: Place the biscuits/cookies in a blender and blend until they are broken into small pieces.

Can I use a blender instead of a mixer for cookies? ›

No — most blenders are not made for mixing cookie dough. Exceptions to this would be powerful (and expensive) blenders, like Vitamix. Cookie dough is best made by using the good ol' hand-mixing method with a large stainless steel bowl and a large wooden spoon.

How do you crush Oreos without a bag? ›

Using a food processor to crush Oreos with their filling is hands down my favorite method. It's quick, easy, and the least messy (in my opinion) of all the methods. Please note that I use a 10+ year old food processor, not fancy or expensive in any way, but definitely gets the job done.
