Who is ready for Valentine’s Day and all the cute that comes with it?! These little Love Bug Cookies are so cute and so easy to make. They are the perfect no bake treat for the grown-ups and kids alike. And you really can make them your own and dress them up even more if you would like!

Why You’ll Love These Love Bug Cookies

  • Easy – melting chocolate is about as complicated as it gets! So trust me, you can make these.
  • Festive – they are just cute! Great to do with the kids, to wrap up as a little favor or gift, or just to have on a dessert table.
  • No Baking – no turning on the oven for these. Just melting, dipping and letting it set up. You don’t even have to measure anything, so even all of the non-bakers can make these in no time.

Recipe Tips & Suggestions

  • Chocolate – You can use red candy melts if you can find them or have them. Wilton makes a bunch of different colors that are available at craft store or online. For white chocolate i like to use almond bark, I find that it melts super smooth and quickly and sets up fast as well.
  • Food Coloring. You really need to use the oil-based or gel food coloring. The water based ones will cause the chocolate to seize up immediately and you won’t be able to dip the cookies.
  • Cookies. I used Oreo cookies, but you really just want something round. The chocolate looks like a bug, so it works well, but you really can use anything you like! Chocolate Chip Cookies, mint cookies…anything you have that is round.
  • Candy Eyes. You can find candy eyes at Walmart, Amazon, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, any craft score and lots of grocery stores near the cake decorating stuff.

You can store your Love Bug Cookies in an airtight container for a couple of weeks.

Freezing – these are great to make ahead and freeze well. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Let thaw in the counter before serving.
