Himalayan Salt Scrub Recipes - Organic Palace Queen (1)Many people eat Himalayan salt for its potential health benefits.

This pure pink salt is mined in Pakistan, deep in the Himalayan mountains, where it’s untouched by pollution. Unlike table salt, considered toxic by many alternative health practitioners, natural Himalayan salt is said to be good for you. It’s rich in minerals, including those trace minerals that many of us don’t get enough of.

Himalayan salt also contains iodine. This is present in a form that makes it readily available to the body.

Himalayan Salt for Your Skin

I love pink Himalayan salt. It’s all we use in our house for cooking and seasoning. It has a delicate taste. Personally, I think it tastes a lot better than table salt, which we no longer own.

Himalayan salt is also believed to be good for your skin. Although I’m not aware of any clinical studies focusing on the benefits of using this natural substance for skin problems, it does have a reputation of being good for eczema, acne and other conditions. Some women also use it to fight the visible signs of aging.

My favorite way of using it, though, is to sprinkle it on my food. Here’s why I like to eat this healthy salt.

Himalayan Salt for Skin Care

It’s believed that nutrient-rich pink Himalayan salt is good for your skin. That’s why you’ll now find it in a growing array of natural cosmetics. It’s also added to DIY skincare recipes.

I now count myself a member of the DIY crowd. Several years ago, I threw away my chemical cosmetics and moisturizers. I wish I’d done this sooner.

My skin looks so much betternow, after I stopped putting chemicals on it. It has a natural glow that can only come from using healthy things on my face. Gone is that flakiness that used to crop up around my mouth. Now I think this dryness was caused by all the chemicals.

Himalayan Salt for Exfoliation

So if you want to use Himalayan saltas a beauty aid, I can’t guarantee the results. But I can tell you that it’s becoming a popular natural remedy, both to put on your table and on your skin.

You’ll now find Himalayan salt in a growing number of natural beauty products, designed to gently soften and exfoliate your skin. For instance, my daughter gave me Himalayan salt scrub in a jar as a Christmas present. She knows how much I like this pink salt. She also knows how much I like essential oils. The scrub she gave me contains both salt and essential oils.

Himalayan Salt Skin Care

Himalayan salt scrubs are technically made for the body. They can be abrasive if you rub them into your face. I did try using the packaged salt scrub my daughter gave me on my face. But it would have irritated my skin if I tried to scrub it. So I used it on my heels instead.

Himalayan Salt Scrub Recipes

I love to tell my readers about natural beauty solutions. Here’s a really simple Himalayan salt scrub recipe, made with this pink natural wonder and essential oils. I use essential oils on my skin every day. They are also found in a wide range of high-end natural all beauty creams and scrubs. This recipe includes lavender essential oil, an aromatic that’s also often used for skin problems.

2 tablespoons finely ground pure Himalayan salt (It’s available here)

1 tablespoon of sweet almond oil (It’s available here)

1 tablespoon of jojoba oil (It’s available here)

6 drops of pure lavender essential oil (It’s available here)

(Or you can add 6 drops of Meditation Synergy Blend, an amazing smelling and soothing formula sold by Plant Therapy.) Also, you can make a larger batch if you plan to give it to someone as a gift. Also, if you prefer a drier salt scrub, just add less of the oils.

Himalayan Salt to Soften Skin

Mix these ingredients together. Take a warm shower and thoroughly wet your skin. Apply this scrub and gently massage into your skin. Rinse off with warm water and gentle pat your body with a clean towel to dry. You can also use a salt scrub before showering.

A variation on the above recipe would be to use Rapid Relief Synergy Blend in place of the lavender oil. Store the remainder of your salt scrub mixture in a clean glass jar, away from heat, light and sun.

Or, you can use sweet orange essential oil instead. Like other citrus oils, orange oil seems to be a natural mood booster. I love to use it during the day, when I want an instant mental lift.

Himalayan Salt for Smoother Skin

Himalayan salt can also be used in a recipe designed to smooth your skin and potentially reduce cellulite deposits. Although I have to be careful of making claims or promises, this is a very simple recipe using a special aromatic blend designed to reduce cellulite. It contains grapefruit essential oil, along with a number of other aromatics. Grapefruit oil is a prime ingredient in various cellulite blends.

2 tablespoons finely ground Himalayan salt. (It’s available here)

2 tablespoons of sweet almond oil. (It’s available here)

8 drops of Ripple Reducer essential oil synergy blend.

Mix these ingredients together and store the remainder in a clean covered glass jar.
