How to upload GIF emojis to Slack? ›

Images can be in JPG, PNG, or GIF format. From your desktop, click the smiley face icon in the message field to open the emoji menu. Click Add Emoji. Click Upload Image and select a file.

Next, under the Custom emoji tab, you can upload an image of your Slack custom emoji(s). Owners, administrators, and members with permission can upload a custom emoji with JPG, GIF, or PNG files. Ideally, you should use square images that are under 128KB, measure 128×128 pixels, and have transparent backgrounds.

Slack recommends 128x128px square images. The app will automatically resize your image if it doesn't match the recommended dimensions. Emojis can only be added from Slack's desktop and web apps.

Tap the message field to open your keyboard. Tap the smiley face icon to open the menu, then tap GIFs. Search for and tap a GIF to add it to your message, then tap Send.

Right-click on the GIF you want to save and select “Save Image As…” from the dropdown menu. Choose the location and folder where you want to save your GIF on your computer. Rename the file and click “Save” to download the image to your Mac or PC.

The Giphy app lets you search a library of animated GIFs and send them in Slack. Once Giphy is installed to your workspace, any member can post GIFs in conversations from the shortcuts menu.
