  1. Love this old recipe! We only make 1/2 the recipe. I put the oats, baking powder, baking soda, salt, *cinnamon, and *cocoa powder in the blender and mix. Then I add the mix to 1 cup white flour, 1 cup of wheat flour. I added *Amaretto to the sugar/butter/egg/vanilla. I add the dry ingredient in thirds; it seems easier to mix. The first batch we cooked for 8 min., the second for 9 min. I rolled two more batches, covered them and put them in the freezer for another day. My husband preferred the 9 min ones because when you eat them warm they are less "doughy". Thank you for posting the recipe!!

  2. When Mrs. Field's started, she added Mapline flavoring to her chocolate chip cookies. It made them have a very destinctive and wonderful flavor. .

  3. This recipe is flat wrong. Too much soda and powder. I think there's twice as much vanilla in this recipe as there is supposed to be also. The cookies pancake out too much and don't bake correctly. You have to over cook them to get them to stick together. Very disappointing.

  4. I used a food processor for the oatmeal. Halved the recipe and made smaller cookies so that the yield was about 7 dozen. I used a touch more salt which I like in a chocolate chip cookie. Mini-chocolate Chips, mini m&ms, no nuts, no grated chocolate bar (because I used a lot of chips and candies). Delicious!

  5. I have been making this recipe for over 30 years now. My kitchen aid mixer cannot keep up. Oh well, there is nothing like good old fashioned HAND MIXING when needed. I just wear gloves now if sending the cookies outside the house. Also I always make the cookies a tad smaller then called for and I get about 12 dozen everytime. YUM!

  5. I have a recipe from a chain letter. It's similar but ingredients a little different. Been using it for years. Everyone loves my cookies. I worked for Mrs. FIeld's in the late 80's.
