Every year I surprise my kids with a Valentine’s Day dinner. Well, it used to be a surprise, now they just play along and let me “surprise” them with it! I love it so much. I decorate the dining room with tons of heart shaped things and red and pink, make a dinner that’s a little more special that I know they’ll love (like this Crispy Chicken Parmesan) and always have some cute festive treats ready to go. It’s a really fun way to make this holiday really special for them. With that said, an elaborate Valentine’s dinner isn’t the only way to make this holiday fun for kids, here are some more simple ideas to get them involved and feeling the love!
- DIY Valentine’s Day Cards: Encourage their creativity and set up a Valentine’s Day card making station. Provide colorful paper, glitter, markers, and stickers for them to make personalized cards for friends, family and classmates! It’s a great way to have a hands-on activity for them while they spread the love!
- Love Notes Scavenger Hunt: Create a fun scavenger hunt by hiding love notes or small treats around the house. Each note can have a new clue leading them to the next surprise! This is so fun to do and adds some extra adventure and exciting for little ones as they go from clue to clue!
- Valentine’s Baking Party: Of course, baking together is one of my favorite ways to show and feel loved. The recipes below are great to make with kids! Something like a simple heart shaped Sugar Cookies or cupcakes with pink frosting are great ideas! Not only is baking together a fun activity for Valentine’s Day but it also results in tasty treats to share!
